About Once Upon A Prom

Our Organization

Our organization was founded 13 years ago by Brooke’s oldest sister and current Harvard Business School student, Carly Silver,. When she graduated from Bethesda Chevy Chase High School, the baton was passed to each of her 5 younger sisters. The club is now in the hands of BCC sophomores Brooke Silver and Anna Antinolfi. When we first opened our doors in 2010, we gave away 27 dresses. Fast forward to 2022, and it delights us to say that we now have a collection of over 3,000 dresses,. We have helped thousands of girls, boys, and non-binary students who might otherwise not have been able to attend prom. In our most recent event in April of 2022, we gave away more than 500 dresses.

Our Mission

Here at Once Upon A Prom our number one priority is inclusivity. For many, if not most of the students who walk through our giveaways doors, prom is only a dream. Financial hardship and personal, complicated lives make this rite of passage one that many--if not most-- of these teens will most likely miss. According to recent statistics, teens spend an average of $600-$800 on proms. The cost makes prom prohibitive for some teens. We want to ensure that this dream comes true for all students. We give away new and very gently used prom dresses free of charge to any student who walks through our doors--no questions asked.
